If you really wanna see why go to an Eagles or Phillies game. Then head up to watch a Giants or Mets game. In Philadelphia you can do no right in sports unless you win the championship. It has been since 1983 (the Sixers) since one of the cities 4 major teams has won a championship; the Wings (lacrosse) have one at least once, the Phantoms (Minor League Hockey) have one twice, and i think even the Kixx (MLS) might have won in that time period.
The unfortunate fact of the matter is that Philadelphia bleeds green so if the Eagles do not win then that is all that matters. I mean just look at the reaction to McNabb and Andy Reid. Those two men have basically saved the franchise and every time they have done anything that could be viewed as detrimental to winning a championship the media and the fans rip them. You will hear about how McNabb overthrew someone in the end zone instead of getting a winning score and 5-6 years later the city will still be bitching about it. It is hard to play here and playing football here is just as bad.
Honestly of the four major sports I'd say the Flyers fans are the best of the group. Hockey is a click in the city. The fans that come up understand the game and understand how everything works better than your average joe football fan who just is looking for something to complain about. Although ... we are also bleeding for a championship in hockey too >.>

This is a completely serious answer. I also live in PA and I know tons of Eagles fans so this is all first hand:
1) They booed Santa Claus
2) They are generally very arrogant.
3) A majority of them are fair weather fans. When the Eagles are good they all come out of the woodwork, but any other time you don't hear a darn thing from them.
4) The hardcore Eagles fans will try to convince you that, even when the team is playing like 12 year old girls, they are better than any team that ever played, EVER. Superbowl or no.
5) They feel like they are constantly "owed" something. Philly is always whining that it is their turn for a Superbowl. Well I'm sorry, but if you want one then you need to earn it.
Just a brief re-cap. I am sure I could add more.

We are talking about fans who once had a in house jail and judge in their stadium. How sad is that?
On October 10, 1999, Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin was driven head first into the turf by Eagles safety Tim Hauck. And as Irvin lay motion-less on the ground, the Vet crowd cheered his demise, earning Philadelphia fans -- who once booed Santa Claus.

Don't let the Eagles fan fool you. Passion is just a cover for being *******. They booed McNabb when that team was crap, didn't give him a chance, he helped build that team into a contender and he still does not get any respect. And never will. Ask Charles Barkley why he wanted out of Philly.
Booing does not make you proud or passionate, it makes you a peice o' sheet fan. Maybe if you actually supported the team and its players you might have more championships, but they would rather mask it behind their so called "passion"

Probably because the Eagles home stadium (both the old one and the new one) is the ONLY on in the NFL to have a jail ONSITE!
You gotta admit that that's pretty bad when fans f*ck up so badly that they need a jail inside of the stadium!!

Because they have acted like complete *******. Remember when Michael Irvin broke his neck in Philly? The fans cheered! Remember when they threw snowballs at Santa Claus?
Being a Philly fan yourself, I would think that this would be obvious to you.

Been to 3 Super Bowl with the PATS. St. Louis fans were friendly and nice. Carolina fans were friendly and nice. Eagles fans were arrogant, unruly, moronic, and nonsensical. Other than that they were fine.
Oh yeah, don't forget obnoxious.

Eagles fans relentlessly bash the team. The booed McNabb during the NFL draft. They still bash McNabb. McNabb has been the best thing going for the Eagles since Vince Papale. They had more love for T.O than McNabb.

They are the American version of the British soccer hooligans...who needs that? Many of the fans are tastless and rude. Nothing wrong with getting into the games but there's too much of the S.Philly element there. I'm realistic, people are gonna catch a buzz and get roudy but to the point of setting up a magistrate underneath the stadium to deal with the inevitable arrests that will be made during the game? I would never bring my kids there.
