Look at who would become President if we impeached Bush. There's your answer for why Democrats haven't pushed for this.

"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

Nothing there about incompetence. They have to commit an actual crime to be impeached and stand trial in the Senate. A lot of people claim that they have committed all these different crimes, but they don't have any hard evidence to support it. All they have is circumstantial evidence (a "smoking gun"), that will not stand up in court.

Also, the people do not have the power to impeach any federal officers. that responsibility lays only with the U.S. House of Representatives. About all you can do is contact you representative have encourage him/her to start or support articles of impeachment.

not really... but our pres and vice pres can be impeached for the following offenses: (who else in America could get away with breaking this many laws?)

-Willfully violated their oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

-Ordered the National Security Agency to violate provisions of the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) [50 U.S.C. Chapter 36], a felony, specifically authorizing the agency to spy on American citizens without warrant.

-Authorized violation of the Torture Convention of the Geneva Conventions, a treaty regarded as supreme law by the United States Constitution.

- Authorized, ordered and condoned violations of rights of individuals under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eight Amendments to the Constitution and of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and other international protections of human rights

-Demonstrated a pattern of abuse of office and of executive privilege and contempt for the Constitution and our democratic ideals while seeking to expand the powers of the presidency (imperial presidency).

-Illegally used government funds for domestic political propaganda related to the administration's Medicare package, paying commentator Armstrong Williams, etc.

-Failed to supply our troops in Iraq with adequate war materials such as body armor, armored vehicles and other equipment
Allowed our maimed and injured troops to be subjected to abhorrent medical care at Walter Reed Hospital.

No terrorists attacks on American soil since we've been fighting the war over there, maybe not such a waste of money after all. They were also voted in to protect us from enemy threats, which is what terrorists attacks are
