Of course not. We want the highest earners paying their fair share of taxes and currently they do not. Who has the most power in this country? Is it the hardest working people? No.
It is the richest people. They take it all for themselves and give very little to others who aren't as fortunate.
I heard on the news that there exists a $200,000 dinner. That is a pathetic waste of money right there. Hunger is a growing problem in this country. There was an article in Business Week about corporations and the richest Americans, where their charitable donations go, and no surprise but it is not to help the poorest people. It goes to support things important to their interests. We all have to come together and realize that we are all in this together. I do not believe in communism. But our system is out of control. People are not even close to being rewarded fairly. There is less competition and less opportunities. Less risks are being taken. The rich always find ways of getting out of doing what they should be doing. (Of course some do what they should do and get burnt. I understand.) But we need to come down very hard on the ones who try to cheat the system. It's a joint effort. The democrats were fighting for tax cuts for the middle class but the Republicans were fighting it hard core so what the democrats did was not what they wanted.

It may come as a shock, but a good mant Democrats are in the wealthy classes and would be among the ones that would be taxed by any tax the rich policy. Simply put, there are responsible rich people and irresponsible rich people.

and why not? that pinata roams about eating up all the wealth of the poor. give me a stick, and lets beat on it until it gives up its treasure.
the struggle between have and have not, rich and poor, privileged class and unprivileged, is unending. sometimes a few enrich themselves at the cost of the many, sometimes the many enrich themselves at the cost of the few. right, wrong, and fair do not belong in this discussion. the rich are as little concerned with the poor as are the poor with the rich. the former sees the unwashed masses as a threat to its security, the latter sees the elitists as legal thieves.

We'll put it in a way that you guys can understand. Middle and lower income people hate 'rich' people, we dont mind people with money however. why dont you think that you should have to shoulder a bigger burden?! you are more capable! i think that it is disgusting that a man in my state that has a brand new $50k sports car gets to pay the same amount of tax as the college student who scrimped to buy a brand new Kia! i respect that some of you worked really hard to have the money that you have, because i'm working to that level myself, but why shouldn't you have a bigger burden than people who can't afford it, and who suffer more than you do?

Once you pass the $200,000 salary, the actual taxes you pay a peanuts. Most Multi Millionaires pay less then people who make 100,000 a year.

uh...no.
I cant' speak for all Dems of course... But I definitely feel the "rich" aren't paying their fair share.
an inexaustable pinata ?...no.
But...
Paying their fair share would mean paying the same tax rate that I pay, and not being able to use loopholes to avoid tax altogether..

Do Republicans view the working middle class as sheep to be sheared when ever the whim or stock market suits them--I would say yes and yes.

Since they've virtually owned government and have influenced laws favorable to their own collective bottom line, I certainly hope so!

well... when rich people can't afford taxes come and talk to me.
meanwhile my dad, a vet, can't really afford the taxes he has to pay, but he pays them.
if you're going to "cut taxes" why not cut the ammount you tax HIM rather than the ammount you tax Dennis Miller...
