Hell some place is the rural south still have septic tank for water. The worst part of it, the countries we give aide to don't give a damn about you and me. Isreal, eygpt, pakistan and many more. They are laughing their @ss off.

I agree that we should be taking care of our own at home and not worrying about other countries. This has been going on before the war. Something happens and the US is suppose to jump up to bat and help out - even though everyone hates us now. So, we should call in some debts owed us, and then start saying NO. I find it odd that some of the smaller, poor coutries that we have helped have tried to pay us back while other larger countries still owe us from previous times/wars, etc.

I won't comment on the war aspect as freedom isn't free.

Freedom isn't free. If we didn't spent the money there you might not be able to sit in your home and ask these questions. A lot of money and lives have been spent to insure that another 911 doesn't happen here at home. If it wasn't spent those kids and the rural south might have much worse conditions to live with. Think about it before you condemn. As for the other countries laughing at us----let em, they still have terrorist bombings to look forward to on a regular basis.

I dont feel foolish at all. I'm single and pay tax up the butt throughout the year. Why do you feel kids need healthcare when their parents can provide it to them by holding jobs? Sure, you cant get decent coverage if someone worked at Wal-Mart but thats only means to better yourself and your goals to find whats suitable for the well being of your family. There are plenty of free clinics if you only look, no one is ever denied and certain hospitals will even provide you with free medication. Just because we are Americans does not mean that we will have everything handed to us. There is much that we can do for ourselves if we get together and work it out.
But if all you'll do is sit there and fuzz about who does what with money that you have absolutely no control over then you're never going to be happy and thats just not the way to live. how's about you get off that chair and do something productive for a change

The majority of Americans are opposed to the war. The November 2006 election replaced a number of Republicans with Democrats in the Congress under the belief that the Democratic majority could bring an end to the war. There are still enough Republicans there that a 2/3rd's vote to override the President's veto's is not possible. I believe there is a plan to reward these loyal supporters otherwise their blatant disregard for the public who they represent is political suicide. I do not feel foolish-I feel betrayed by our government.
Clearly we have taxation without representation as our present Government ignores the desires of the majority of the citizens,

I think it should be more like why more Americans aren't angry about this. I know the state that I live in is responsible for at least 3 billion of that trillion dollar war debt.
Where is it all going? To contractors and Bush isn't done paying off his contributors yet, I'm sure.
Blame Congress for approving the cash.

I don't feel foolish, but I'm mad as h***. Afghanistan was a legitimate war, but invading Iraq when there was not one Iraqi involved in 9/11 tells me that it is all about oil and money. Otherwise, Halliburton wouldn't have gotten all those contracts in Iraq. And remember, they gave Cheney $25 million when he left their company to run for VP. Is there a connection there? You bet you sweet a** there is. I certainly don't feel foolish because I didn't help put Bush in office. I voted for the man who won the first Bush election..Al Gore and then they cheated him out of it. Bush is the one who should feel foolish given his approval rating. Check and see what the American dollar is worth overseas now.

And considering the content of your question, why don't you go to Washington and give them your wisdom.....Cause it sure isn't coming through on here!

Well, it's not like we can avoid paying taxes, so no, I don't feel foolish really. I'm really freaking frustrated as to WHERE my tax dollars are going to. I mean, we have starving children here on the streets of L.A., and we're sending millions of dollars to Darfur? Seriously. Let's take care of the problems at home first.

America has not so much been a fool but ransomed by our political system to continue in a war that is strangling our economy and killing our boys. We have no idea bout the social values of these countries and we will not help them by forcing democracy upon them. They should first vote on what kind of government they want. Let us encourage them with the way they need to live not place our ways on them. We are very harmful to the social netting of these countries.
