Do they think they have control over you because you have to pay child support? I mean the money is for the kid, how is you getting back at me. Too many women out there think that a way to get back at a guy is through his wallet. Well if that is the case than every bill collector is getting back him.

I don't even GET child support and that is FINE by me. My ex is too violent and I have a restraining order. I'd rather work hard and earn my living, there are resources out there for women that need help with subsidies if they are in the lower income bracket. The less I have anything to do with my ex the better. $0 for our child is a good number. I don't need his help. I can look after my own.

First of all why does she need to get back at you like you say. Maybe you did something stupid and she needs help. Maybe you didn't and she wants you back. There could be many factors. So as people answer you I guess they lean towards either one that they understand more. Do you help her with expenses or do you turn your head and think that being there as their father is only needed.

Children are expensive most of the time and if she is a good woman than she needs the support. But if she is spending it on herself and the kids are lacking and you can notice this then call child support and tell them. Get a court order for them to investigate the amount. But dont think that just because woman seek child support they are getting back at you. Why do men think that. YOU HAVE TO PAY AND BE THERE AS WELL. They go hand in hand. You can't do one without the other for the childs sake. If you cared about your kids than you wouldn't care. You two would have never been in child support becuase you would be there for you kids emotionally, physically, and FINACIALLY. It is a big factor too. You would be there for them and she wouldn't need to even think about childsupport. So you and her need to stop thinking about eachother and worry about the kids because they are watching. And God forbid they grow up and go through the same thing from your example.

I look at it like this money will not raise the child a father will. What pisses me off is some women get child support and wont even allow the father to see the child then the father has to go through hell just to file to see his own child. Why ar esome women so selfish? Its the child who suffers not the mom that is still bitter from there past relationship. SOme need to grow up and realize its more important for the father to be in his childs life then a few dollars. The child will resent the mother more by restricting the two.

Why do all Dad's think they are being punished because they have to pay child support?

Do you see the problem - you're generalizing.

There are many, many women who would just be happy to get a damned nickel from the father's of their children. I know many women who take a significant amount less in child support because they felt the higher number was unfair. I know women who get nothing because the father is just an idiot. And finally - I know divorced couples who are amicable and have very liberal open custody arrangements with their children, and pay 1/2 of all expenses.

Don't generalize -- yes there are horror stories of vengenful ex's trying to hoard child support, but there are just as many of reasonable arrangements that are in the best interest of the child.

I don't know. But as a step mom to part-time kids, I do feel for you. I knew a guy that committed suicide (was brought to it, pushed over the edge) by his crazy ex-wife who kept dragging him to court. He was mentally unstable but she pushed him over. The birth mom seems irresponsible to me. My husband pays $800 a month in child support for 2 kids and she seems to waste a good portion of it. (2 vehicles, bought a bigger house in nowheresville, farther from her work so the kids can't participate in after school activities, etc, goes on 2 big vacations a year, goes on lots of weekend trips with girl friends. She's 36.) She really gets upset about the money, if there is any perceived threat to it. It's never about the kids. It's about the money.

You are not alone. The current system really sucks and needs to be changed. I think it should be easier for a mom to be held as unfit mother. It is far too lenient. The kids are the ones who pay the price! I see it in my stepkids' eyes.

Most women receiving child support do not view it as a means to "get back at" an ex. It is simply a father's duty to help to provide for children. She didn't have that baby all by herself and should not have to raise it alone just because a marraige doesn't work out.

Don't worry about it. The child support is for the kid and thats it.
Pay it and ignore her. Women who actually get child support for their kids are lucky. Lots of guys leave them to fend for the children themselves. She is doing that nanananana thing because its all she has to get back at you. Lots of women do that when a relationship fails. They need to get on with life.

I don't think ALL women think like that; I don't. As you stated, the money is for the child. It took two people to create the child; and it should take two people to raise the child.

Women don't.

Little girls who have never grown up and have no self esteem do.
