Use gparted a free disk partitioning tool, or partition magic which is not free. The vista dvd also allows you to perform disk partitioning as well. With most dual boots however all you need to do is boot from the second operating system cd and create a partition with that cd. For example, if you installed ubuntu linux it has an auto partitioning tool that will create it's partitions for you, you simply approve the changes. It also installs the grub boot loader so when you boot you're presented with a text menu allowing you to select which OS you want to boot.

gParted will allow you to resize your windows partition to 125gb, as well as create another 125gb partition.

Linux Distros, such as Ubuntu have a built-in non-destructive partitioning tool called Qparted.

If your planning on Dual-Booting to Linux, use it (carefully) to safely preserve all your Vista stuff, it starts automatically during the Ubuntu installation procedure.

U have to use partition magic if u want to create new partition without formating. Vista also allows repartition but it formats entire disk. If u don't mind formating go Vista setup after rebooting ur PC with Vista CD.
