You don't want it to interfere with the playoffs. Then you want as much press as you can get in the off season. They probably wish they had more awards so they could stretch it out until spring training begins. Be Thinking Baseball even in the off season.

It keeps baseball on the cover of the sports section for an additional two weeks in the middle of November, when nothing else is happening, maybe a few signings.
Why just dump them all when there are other headline stories ongoing? Headlines are free publicity.
Frankly I've long been puzzled why the lesser sports don't figure this out -- basketball and football in particular. True, no one really CARES about their awards, but they just sort of toss them out during the interminable playoffs, and are quickly washed away. Consider: do you know who won this year's Hank Aaron Awards? That's Seligula's signature award, his little baby, named after his goombah Henry -- and they were announced prior to Games 3 and 4 of the World Series, and thus were immediately swamped with better baseball news.
It was Prince Fielder in the NL and Alex Rodriguez in the AL, and No, I didn't have to look that up.

Bud Seilig wants the minds of Americans on Baseball 24/7 like Roger Goodale wants Americans thinking NFL. Therefore, he slowly "dribbles" awards day by stinking day until they are all used up....MVP, Cy Young, Golden Gloves, Manager of the Year, Comeback Player, Most Sunflower Seeds Spit, etc.
Bottom line = It's Ridiculous as is HE.

No, Matt Cain could have had Postseason MVP. how are you able to circulate in the path of the playoffs with a nil era and not get playoff MVP??? isn't smart, regardless of the reality that Tim did face down some megastar pitchers. I disagree with the interest of the twelve months. there are a number of different video games i presumed surpassed that one. maximum exceptionally the in simple terms right interest between the Padres and the Giants, which desperate the branch on the in simple terms right interest of the season.

awards are tallyed all at the same time, only announced at different times.
It is to allow each winner a portion of time to soak it in?
Personally, I always enjoyed the NHL awards style where all the players get together and it's televised.

yea I never understood the reason for that. It can't take the writers & voters that long to come up with a final talley on who wins what. I say do the American League MVP,CY,ROY,Gold Gloves one day then the National League the next day.
