As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, this country may "spend more on non-lethal technologies than any other country in the world" (although I, for one, would love to know what you mean by the phrase "non-lethal technologies" and where you found any reliable and verifiable data on the same and on which you are basing this statement) however, the actualy point would be how, where and when does this country deploy the same?
Insha'Allah, we have many non lethal technologies within the practice of western medicine in this nation yet the government of the same refuses to provide health care for its most vulnerable citizens (the very young, the disabled and the elderly).
Insha'Allah, there are non-lethal technologies that could be applied to industry and manufacturing so as to greatly lessen the effects of pollution, especially in regards to the automotive industry, however, they have not been implemented in any sort of a timely manner so as to help to resolve many of the issues caused by the same.
Insha'Allah, some of our supposed non-lethal technologies, such as the use of nuclear power plants, although deployed, are now appearing to be rather "lethal" due to the pollution they do cause (i.e., radioactive elements that have half lives of thousands of years and the likes of which we have no truly safe place to store nor manner in which to dispose of them).
Insha'Allah, if you are referring to the invasion of another sovereign nation so as to dispose of its government under the false pretenses of it posing a danger to the whole of the world and to us directly which has lead to the death of untold hundreds of thousands of civillians, as well as to many thousands of our own citizens ( as well as to the displacement of a majority of the population within the area in which this operation is being carried out, the disruption of all electrical services, the destruction of those plants that treated the water utilized by the occupants of this area, the disruption of their educational system, the destruction of their hospitals, economy, culture and lives in general, all of which, to this very day, is continuing) I, for one, am still waiting to see what a non-lethal technology might be in said situation as well as waiting to see the same deployed.
Insha'Allah, how can one say that this country (of which I am a native citizen having been born in Texas) is arbitrarily killing civilians either deliberately, dircetly and /or indirectly in our current war based on the lies we were told by and from the highest levels of our government? One can do so because it is a fact, because it is true and because no one is seeing the "spending of more money on non-lethat technologies than any other nation in the world" nor the deployment of said techonologies anywhere in the world.
Ma'a salaam.

Those that claim the US militiary is abitrarily killing civilians obviously can not do simple arithmetic.
The number of so-called 'innocent' victims changes more often than Denver's weather.
If even the low rates I've heard were true, considering that the US military has been in Iraq longer than it was in Belgium, there would be no life in Iraq.
It's mass hysteria promoted by CNN. If you listen to them, not only are all the Iraqis dead, the city of New Orleans is still under water.

consider our involvement in WWI and WWII, and the way that we carpet bombed major cities and eventually used the nuclear bomb on civilians. They were called the greatest generation. Back then it was about winning, now it's about being pathetically politically correct. We are at war but I would venture to say that we are being civil to a fault. Many of our guys die in Iraq and Afghanistan because of the stringent rules of engagement. The insurgents don't were uniforms, they are dressed as civilians, I expected far more casualties than there have been.

"Non lethal technologies"?
People can say that the US is arbitrarily killing civilians for the very obvious reason that we ARE. And what does the money we spend on "non lethal technologies" (vague term) have to do with the absence of conscience that allows our government to condone and actively participate in the torture and murder of non-military targets?
When a man buys a sheathed knife, you don't judge him by how much he paid for the weapon, or how he uses the sheath - you judge him by what he does with the blade..,

Because the US bombs and launches missiles which murder civilians in Iraq. "Collateral damage" in Iraq is more than all those killed in the September 11 attacks. Shock and Awe was a cowardly attack which killed innocents. Imagine US children being bombed in their homes by a foreign military trying to liberate you because Bush has WMD.
