You may want to try a different tack and think about what mythololgy is there for. In the past mythology was a way of explaining events that couldn't be explained at that time (creation, the idea of good and evil, death, the afterlife etc).

Despite all these big themes there was a big element of entertainment involved. There would have to be in order for the stories to live on as myth. Many of the Greek myths resemble soap operas of the Gods with their petty behaviours and romantic trysts.

The comic book universe you refer to is also primarily based on entertainment but it explores some different themes relevant to the American culture of the time. Look into the histories of the creators of superheroes for examples of this.

Note the amount of wish fulfilment that goes into the idea of geeky, unloved and unliked people having really intereting and powerful secret identities. Also look at the differences between what defined a hero in myths and what a hero is seen as now.

You cannot compare Hulk, a monster made by a radioactive accident, to Hercules...a heroic man given godlike powers.
You cannot compare Thor, the comicbook superhero, to the god Thord. They are competely different characters with the same name.
You would be better off comparing Mercury to the Flash.

Ancient mythology was spawned by Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz with their consulting with fallen angels. Nimrod was Noah's great grandson who rebelled against God.

Modern mythology is just evolved branches of the old queen of heaven mysteries by Semiramis with wizards and witches and fallen angel UFOs. The gods and goddesses of today are just newer versions of those of old. They had many, many different names. All the devil's way to draw you away from God.
