If he has allergies to Pine it could. I have a friend that will get hives, she goes into anaphylactic shock when she comes into contact with pine trees. She has to carry a shot with her. I beleive it is called an epi pen. If he has allergies and it gets into his eyes it could cause serious damage. I had to have steriod shots in my face so poison ivy wouldn't cause me to go blind. So I guess it is possible. Whether the kid actually has allergies to it, I couldn't tell you that. Also Pine trees attract a certain caterpillar which is poisonous to humans and can cause blindness. If he isn't allergic to pine that might be what she is talking about. I found the answers that you have received very uninformed.

I would check www.webmd.com for Christmas tree sap and see what it says.............
There are lots of things in homes that can hurt a kid. The parents have to watch the kid constantly.
We put our live Christmas trees inside of a pet gate while the kids were very little to keep them from pulling down the tree on their little pumpkin heads.

o.ok. I even have 3 teenagers and have had real x-mas timber, none of my teenagers are blind. i'm supplying you with a link that explains that sap is interior the trunk of the tree subsequently you should offer the tree a clean decrease so as that the tree can get the water. i think of she is only finding for a reason to no longer get a real tree. yet pretend ones are only that pretend and what's x-mas devoid of the scent and experience of a real tree.

That's nuts. I think his mom is way overprotective and paranoid. I mean, even if sap could blind a kid, what's he gonna do? Break of a branch and rub it on his face? Yeah, I don't think so.
