Or that everybody's on the stage, and it seems like
you're the only person sitting in the audience?

Yes, sometimes, sometimes often, but not in a paranormal way.

The Shakespeare quote comes to mind:
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,.....

I'm paraphrasing here, but you get the point.

I also get the feeling that the story is too damned unreal or that I am the only person who is up on the stage while the rest of the world is scrutinizing me.

It's part of what life is all about and also what makes it exciting! Even the pain of realizing that is pretty real for me but it makes for an interesting trip, right? It helps if you have someone who you can share that with... ♥

I am the only one in the audience.
There is a overly tall puppeteer standing behind the curtain adorned cardboard box. In full view of all who see. The puppets stand and bend and walk until after awhile you don't see the strings and then you don't see the overly tall man standing behind the curtain adorned box. Then the story brings you in and you are the audience, not the critic.
