I have a succulent that's been a bit neglected lately. It's become shrivelled and spindly, but it's still alive. It hasn't seen any sunshine, water or fertilizer lately ... (I have since done all those things)

Will it make a full recovery with patience, sunlight and TLC? Any tips? I've pruned it a lot ... was that the right thing to do? Google hasn't been very helpful.

Usually with any sick plant, the rule is not to fertilize an unhealthy plant. Sometimes that will make it sicker, unless the problem is a nutrient deficiency. With a succulent, when it is shriveled, it usually means that it has not gotten enough water, and has sealed off parts of itself in order to stay alive. You did the right thing pruning off the dead parts. Just give it minimal water, about once a week soak it good and let it drain completely. It is a succulent so don't drown the poor thing, that will just make it rot and finish it off for good. When it recovers and starts to put on new growth, you can help it along with some liquid fertilizer in half strength about once a week until it makes a full recovery.

you didnt state what species/genera of succulent, you have plant. if you really needs to know, just email me. maybe i can help you. in case of a half dead plant, you cannot put too much fertilizer or water. put it under sunlight. if the root is not damage than sure it will be recovered soon.

Succulents are pretty hard to kill. They thrive on negligence, as you have seen.

It should recover if you don't kill it with kindness and too much water. They are desert plants...

Take cuttings, just whack off the top and place on moist soil.

Perhaps if you saw it as "half alive" it would sense your improved attitude and begin to thrive.
