That sounds very likely if another "conservative" is elected. What did people think would happen when two oil men were put in the white house?

It doesn't matter who is elected president the price of gas will still go up because the president does not control the price of gas. If a Democrat is elected the price will go up because their answer to fixing the problem is to put another tax on and every one will be happy to see the government take the oil companies money but in the end we pay. Start looking beyond the oil companies and ask why big corps. like G.E. spent more money in Washington last year than all the oil cos. put to-gather and why is G.E. backing the environmentalist groups to keep pressure on the politicians to prevent the oil companies from expanding their operations in the U.S.A. The reason is that G.E. is invested in alternate energies and this is their way of getting us to start to demand the alternate energies. We need the alternate energy sources and they will come but in the mean time we will pay the higher prices and continue to blame the president and the oil companies.

PER PINT??????!!!!!!! Perhaps you mean gallon? It will mean nothing whether we have a Republican or Democrat as President, prices will hit $4.00/gal. The stage has already been set and nothing short of a miracle or Divine Intervention will stop the rise in gas prices. The wars in Iraq, and the instability of the Oil producing countries dictate a continued rise. The unsettling aspect is that the U.S.A. gets a very small precentage of it's oil from the Middle East. Canada is the largest supplier, followed by South America / Latin America. The Oil Co's and the Government TAXES are what kills us.

Let's look at it this way....
OIL is the most valuable resource on our planet today. The nation that controls the oil, controls the world. Right now, the USA controlls the oil. We're in Iraq, because Saddam wanted to sell Iraqi oil to Euproean and Chinese consumers (since their currency is worth WAY more than the US dollar). Since Saddam decided to be a capitalist, we decided to call him an evil dictator and remove him from power.
Oil is more important than life (at least in some politicans views). It powers our major energy producing plants, our cars, and just about everything about our way of life.
This addiction to oil will end once all the oil reserves are used up, but trust me, by then, the oil companies will be invested in the next fuel source, and we will be paying $4/pint or more on whatever it is.
If, however you don't think everything we are doing is related to oil, then you are just dumb (aka, baby factorys who are producing the next generation of gas station attendants).
Conservative, democrat, independent, or whatever...you will answer to the masters of our government (oil, big business, and religion) or be impeached quicker than you could type the word "A."

Go to Bethesda Maryland.
That place is crawling with zillionaire liberals.
On any given morning you will see a line out the door at Starbucks on Wisconsin Ave of cry babies complaining about Bush and the price of Fuel at $2.50 a gallon while they are waiting like stooges for the privilege of forking over $5.25 for a paper cup of bitter coffee with foamy milk in it.
I think the price of fuel should be over $8.00 a gallon so these hypocrites will park all the BMW's and take the bus with the rest of us.

When oil hits a $100.00 a barrel it won't care who the president is!
Don't let anyone fool you, there is plenty of oil in this world, it is just like anything else. If OPEC decides to gouge you it will, next to who in the government wants to tax on top of that!

It doesn't matter who is pres, gas prices are determined by world economic climate. One thing is for sure, we certainly dont want terrorist insurgents taking over nations rich in oil reserves.

Let me say this, which most of us realize, but I haven't seen said much lately hereabouts: When the Democrats come into office this next time, they are going to have a massive cleanup and bail-out of all systems of our nation's infrastructure on their hands. Traditionally, this is the pattern: Republicans get in and break the treasury with deficit spending, and then Democrats have to come in and correct all the errors of the Republican philosophy of spending to gain the people's good will on a loan which always comes due during the Democrat's administration. Dirty pool, but hey, no GOP voter can keep their eye on the ball, and so it seems to work for them.
To answer you directly, I fear things can only get worse, so possibly what you envision will happen. By then, I'll be walking to work.
