Scandinavia is absolutely NOT a country. It refers to the three countries, Norway, Sweden and Denmark which are found on the Scandinavian peninsula in northern Europe. Finland and Iceland are also sometimes referred to as part of Scandinavia, though this is incorrect as they do not lie on that peninsula. The Icelandic language is a direct descendant of Old Norse, but Finland is simply a neighbor and does not share common linguistic roots. Scandinavia, plus Finland and Iceland should be correctly referred to as the Nordic countries.

Scandinavia is located in the northern part of the European Continent, and consists of three countries: Denmark, Norway and Sweden . The term 'Northern Europe' usually refers to a total of five countries: the three nations of Scandinavia, plus neighbouring Finland and Iceland. No. It is the name given to countries that are treated as a region and comprises Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Lapland, Finland. This is similar to the Middle East which comprises those countries around the Eastern end of the Mediterranean and north east Africa.
