you will most likely get a great many awnsers that will tell you to take matter's in your own hands,,but I would not advise it. yes, as you have found out , our goverment protects those who can claim self defense, but i was always taught that if you have any way of leaving the situation,,then it cannot be self defense,,example would be,,me getting the crap beat out of me ,,and pulling a gun and shooting whom was beating me,, that is not not self defense,,reason,, i could have held them at gun point untill someone came to help,,or I backed away removing myself from the situation,,,there lies the means of excape ,, murders are cunning people,,they know the law,,the law protects them,, they don't get what should be their punishment,,, without knowing the reason how he claimed self defence. get a better lawyer,, sue him for unreasonable death ,,,i"m sure it is called something else,,but its early and i only have 1 cup of coffee in me,,mabe after a few more cups ,,i'll remember what it is called...

First of all, I could not imagine what you must be feeling.
Those wounds of loosing your son will never go away, but in time it will get better.
What you can do for yourself in the meantime is plan a retreat for yourself for a couple days and internalize all that happened. Talk with friends, family, counselors, anybody you trust that can help you gain a *healthy* perspective.
As for the man who killed your son, I don't know the whole story, but what I can tell you and this is hard, but if you can forgive him (and forgiving yourself any issues revolving this) the healing transition will be much easier.
Take care

You go to compassionatefriends.org and click online support community.
There is nothing so painful as losing a child.
I was a moderator at TCF after they helped me when I lost my brother.
Take my word, there are so many caring people there and you will see the way before you like you never dreamed you could. One of my friends lost her son when her older son killed his brother.
Please go to your nearest TCF or go online.
Blessings.

You try your best. You remember your son, but you don't brood about it. Everything happens for a reason, even if it seems unfair. When your son passed on, another child was born in this world; life moves on, so can you.
Good luck and take care.
Love, Celine.

You have to understand that life itself is not fair and is full of injustices.
Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for the things that happen. We must accept that things don't always happen for a reason that we can understand and move on from there.
My condolences!! Good Luck!!!

Selma, I wish there was an answer. But we do have to believe that man will pay for it. I know it will not be soon enough. I believe God will punish him for it and for all the pain he has caused you.

You don't. Obviously they felt it was self defense. you can't take matters into your own hands. he can't be tried again for the same crime.
