Depends what the appointment is.
Late if it's :
A casual pizza/DVD movie night at friends place
Meeting a good friend at the movies/shopping
To pick up dry cleaning
On time or early if it's:
Getting to work
Job interviews
Eye/Dentist/Doctors appointments
Weddings/funerals/birthdays/anniversary

Almost all of the time I am very punctual. For the casual get together and hang out things, not so much. About 3pm is just that, about 3pm. I've set my car, watch, cell, early by 5 minutes, but b/c I know it's 5 minutes early.... I figure I have 5 more minutes. So.. that doesn't help. Well, at least I'm mostly punctual!

I probably have an obsessive-compulsive streak...as I am always "a little early".
Employers especially make note of that. IF, there are two qualified persons...puctuality and review of sick time....will often be the deciding factor of who gets the job. Some cultures see "showing up late" as totally disrespectful.

i'm always present and prompt. . i hate missing classes and i'm too shy to come late to class. . . but i hate parties and social gathering so i turn up an hour and a half to these, and if i can escape unnoticed, i leave. =)
