ok--so in my psych class we read how many women want to get pregnant with the man with the best "genes"---tall, good looking, muscles, etc. --but the provider they want is the richer guy who would be a good dad--maybe not good looking, no muscles, etc.--my question is this-----do many women get pregnant from 1 nite stands or short term relationships with a hotter guy that they know will disappear--"bad boy" and then try to find a richer guy to be with? do some have affairs with a better looking guy and then try to decive their husbands that are not as good looking or muscles that the child is his?

one thing that happened to a buddy of mine from college--he is a doctor (MD)--his wife evidently got pregnant from a male dancer at her bachelorette party--then tried to pass the child off as the doctors--however the doctor was too smart and told me from the earlobes the baby had he knew immediately it wasnt his--got a paternity test and left her with divorce

does this hapen alot?

Despite what they teach in college about the mating and dating rituals of humans and how it's all simply biological and a result of evolutionary processes, the facts bear out a different conclusion.

It's mostly bunk.

Women all over the world have vastly different criteria for judging the men they choose to marry and have children with. Yes, it's true that women tend to want basic traits like security and physical attraction and a hard worker, but beyond that there is so much variation.

I know a lot of tall guys that are single, and a lot of short guys that are running circles around them.

Besides, a woman who is simply looking for a good-looking man for the sole purpose of passing on attractive genes would be pretty shallow in most people's book and not fit to be a mother.

I guess most women choose someone who has the traits they would like in their child, just not everyone is superficial about it!
Personally, the man I chose to father my child is someone who will be a good father for a start, and has so many qualities which I love & admire which I hope he will pass on to our son. Obviously I find him attractive or I wouldn't have slept with him, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't actually know anyone who has chosen a father for their child/children based on height, appearance, muscles etc. That would be a silly move anyway, since it's possible those genes wouldn't result in the child displaying those characteristics

I don't know about the complicated socio-psychological process you describe, but I have read a reputable study which suggested that - throughout history - in about ten percent of cases the presumed father of a child is not the father in fact.
Now we know why Judaism is passed down through the mother - there may be some doubt about who your father is, but very little about who your mother is!

Yes it happens a lot, but some guys are not as smart as your friend. My brother's wife got pregnant with someone else and said it was his, and he believed her, and we all even said it wasn't his, if he was smart he would of got DNA done.
