if you want a small amount try the supermarker, usually near the baking soda. Pharmacies carry it as well. Borateem ( I think that is how it is spelled) you can buy in the laundry soap section of the grocery store) It has boric acid in it and will kill ants and roaches, etc but wont harm your kids or pets (outside of tasting a little soap) sprinkle along the area from where you think they enter and under the counters.

Some areas don't allow it's sale any more. 20 Mule Team Borax is basically the same thing, found usually on the top shelf with bleach alternatives at Walmart.

I'm 99% sure that Wal-Mart carries it, as well as places such as Home Depot... Anywhere that carries gardening supplies.
