Sperm are formed in the testes. Mature sperm are either male (with a Y chromosome + other chromosomes) or female (with an X chromosome + other chromosomes). Male humans determine the sex of their offspring, not women.

(A sperm can be either X or Y. An mature egg can only be X , at least the normal ones, because a woman carries only X chromosomes. One Y sperm + an X egg = a boy; one X sperm + X egg = a girl.)

Each mature sperm contains half of the choromosomes and therefore pretty much half the genes a man has in his other body cells.

The spine does not produce any sex cells. Cells which make up the spine have double the genetic material of a mature, human sperm cell, same as other non-sex cells of the body. Immature sperm cells, before they start dividing, have the full complement of genetic material though, like a regular body cell.

Sperm is not the same as semen. Semen (or ejaculate) is the sticky fluid men ejaculate when having sex. Semen contains sperm but is largely made up of fluid made in the prostate gland. Pre-ejaculate (the clear stuff that leaks out when men are aroused and before they ejaculate) is made in the Cowpers gland. Pre-ejaculate may contain a few sperm.

Sperm cells are created in the testicles. They move up small tubes to the prostate gland. The prostate gland produces semen. Sperm and semen are mixed together by the prostate gland before ejaculation.

Does he believe that ducks come from duckweed, too?

The only way that could possibly make sense is if he misunderstood the question completely and was answering something else.

Wow - does your mate also believe that babies come from the stork?
Get another mate - and soon because this one's dangerously dumb.

Your mate is woefully uninformed. I hope he never reproduces.
