Wow, that's pathetic. Anyone, (even on Yahoo! Answers), who tells a child, basically to practice safe sex, is very irresponsible and dumb. So, no. I am right there with ya!

Yeh I see where you are coming from but you sex education needs to start early - sad but true. So many young teenagers out there are not only getting pregnant at such a young age but also catching nasty diseases. Educate Educate - get the word out there. Prevention is better then cure.
However if the question was just relating to periods then I don't think there was any need to bring up 'sex'.

i do think its a bit much but hey she probably has read worse on here already and my boyz from year 5 in primary school watch sex ed fims as part of the curiculum. so they know what sex is and how to be safe or should do. however i was told my my father at that age to make sure i didnt get pregnant, without even being asked if i was having sex, which inncidently i wasnt. i hated my father for saying it to me. my mother got pregnant young and proceeding to get married. i didnt want that for me so i choose a different path. hopefully girls these dayz will take that path too, however most do have under age sex which is a gr8 shame.

I don't think it's wrong. though she doesn't have her period yet, I don't think a thirteen year old girl is a child anymore. She was just been given a caution which is better than not knowing anything at all. I think at her age, it's the best time to know more information about this kind of stuffs

It isn't irresponsible to say that. Kids are having sex at too young of an age nowadays and they need to know they should use protection at all times, and to also know that even using protection is not a 100% certainty against pregnancy.

No. It is good to put those ideas in people's head early. However, it is tacky, because she didn't ask about anything sexual.

No. Since the child is well aware of periods in a women's life, to caution her to be careful in other related topics is timely, appropriate and necessary.

Yes, it's pretty pathetic to tell a child to have sex to begin with.
Children need to be told they are children and to NOT HAVE SEX, safe nor otherwise. Too many people condone children having sex around here.
Immorality runs high, sadly.
