Well I was going to say the explosive poopies, but you said other than illness.
Maybe you had an appointment you forgot about?
Maybe you broke the key to your car off in the lock?
Or be honest and just say I don't want to come in today.

I don't know about calling off, but once I asked my boss "Hey, can I leave early tonight and come in late tomorrow to make up for it"? I almost made it to the time clock before she caught it!

Find a calendar with EVERY religion's holidays on it. Virtually every day is a religious holiday for some religion or another. You just may have to convince your boss that you do a LOT of converting.

MMM that you really do not want to pay your bills this month.
Mr was just talking about all the lame excuses he gets at work for someone not coming in......people just do not want to work these days.

Not that you'd want to jinx it but you could say there has been a death in the family. Or, a family member is sick and you have to take care of them or if you have kids, use them.
