FEAR!!! They are like any other predator. They sense fear and feed off of it. The more afraid you appear to them, the bolder they get.

Back in the 1700's...the pirates of the Barbary coast seemed to sum it up when they believed that they had every religious right to enslave, attack, kill and steal.
The islamic religion as it has been revived by the toku brothers and others believe that the whole world is dark, and islam is the only light. They have the right to either kill all infidels or convert all to islam..by the sword if necessary.
This is why they have no ethics, no conscience, no distinction between combatants and the innocent.
This is why this war has been long overdue. As a world internationally, no one has addressed the issue that islam is a militant religion. And the radical members of it think they have a license to kill at will, any time... anywhere.
There are peaceful muslims one might say, but that is only because their humanity has over-ridden the letter of the law of the Quran. I'm glad there are such people that allow their conscious to do so, but these same people are often considered infidels or not truely muslim to the radicals.
It is a complex issue, I try to stick to the basics and not allow it to get much more complicated...because in complication.... sometimes people try to "blurr the lines", and I think its important to keep focused on what is reality.

Some claim to act in the interests of the people, others' claim to act according to religious instruction. In truth, all terrorists seek political power for their leaders. There are no lofty motivations for acts of terror.
