Start here: http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm On the right hand side they have some publications and familiarizing yourself with some of that info should help you get started. They likely have a list of lawyers who know these laws and how to deal with a problem.

If You don't have unlimited money, for an attorney, it's going to be very difficult to sue the venue.

Lawyers charge by the hour. Depending on the lawyer, his hourly rate can be as high as $500.00 per hour, plus or minus and that is for his staff to research the case.

When your attorney gets involved and does some research, his fee may be $1,000.00 per hour +/-

Do you know if the recording artist had 100% knowledge of the violation of the American's with Disabilities Act?
Probably not, as he is the performer and would not have such information.

The Artist has nothing to do with the venue where the show took place and therefore, probably had no "personal knowledge of the American's with disabilities Act." Many people are not familiar with the Act.

Focus on the owner of the venue and whether someone promoting the show had knowledge, before you jump into something that may hurt you more financially, than them.

Do more research and determine who actually was in charge, and knowledgable, of "The Americans with disabilities Act."

You will need a lot of money, if the performer is well-known,
if you want to file a law suit against the venue.

Lawyers are expensive. Trying to win a case against the venue where the performer appeared will cost a lot of money.

Are you prepared to spend a substantial amount of money to win your case?

When you arrived at the venue, did you make the employees aware of your disability?

If you are financially unable to sue the venue, you can consider calling the law school in the city where you live and ask if they will handle your case "pro bono," meaning they would do it without charging you.

Never look in the Yellow Pages for an attorney. Professional attorneys do not advertise in the telephone book.

Good Luck.

If it's an employment action, you need to start any discrimination action, including under the ADA, by filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission within six months of the event of discrimination. You do not need a lawyer for this. The EEOC investigates and will either find discrimination or issue what's called a "right to sue" letter which permits you to file a legal action. You cannot file a legal action without first going through this process.

If it's not an employment action, you should speak to a lawyer about the basis for your suit. Most communities have a lawyer referral service through the local bar association, which is free.

Check the yellow pages and go to initial consultations (which are usually free) with a few lawyers.
