I've been wondering about this lately: I'm 17, and my boyfriend is 16. He lives in the U.K., where he is of legal age. However, I live in America, where I won't be legal for another year. If we were to have sex right now, would we be breaking some law?

Travelling to a foreign country to have sex with anyone under 16 is a violation of federal law, and you can be technically prosecuted upon your return to the US, whether it is legal in the other country or not. Since he's 16, you're in the clear, as long as it's not commercial sex.

Statutory rape is from age 12 and below wherein there is rape even when the victim consents to the sex due to the temptation of money or other consideration.

No, just having sex, between friends, can't be an offence, unless it leads to complaints cognisable in law in the country where the complaint is filed!
