Keep in mind the many restrictions there are between Cuba and the US.
You first should concentrated on the Cuban procedures to leave the country.
1. you need an official invitation from a person or a company / university. This invitation is an official Cuban document stating the identity of both " inviter" and " invited" and signed by both parties in front of a Cuban notary. cost 140 cuc
(+/- 160 us$). Note that the "inviter" agrees to take full responsibility for you ,included, housing, money issues, insurance, social security, legal affairs etc.

2. Than you must pass a medical examination.

3. You need to apply for a an offical passport,
your Cuban identity card ( carnet) is not sufficient.

4. You need to apply for a Cuban exit visa.
(cost 200 cuc ?) and in most cases you have to show your airline ticket and the return coupon.
The autorities can refuse to give you the exit visa if they have no garanty that you will return.
That's all concerning the Cuban side, I am not familiar with the US side, there is no US embassy in Cuba, only an " US interest section" situated in Havana on the Malecon.
I think you start a huge project that can take easly one year or more.
