When I was a kid, I didn't get any allowance. Whenever I wanted something, I would just ask my parents for it, but for a trade-off which was doing well in school. I'm pretty reasonable when I was young, I wasn't begging for every toy or game console that came out.

I never got an allowance.. I had to shovel snow, mow lawns, baby sit, and deliver news papers when I was a kid to earn money of my own...

doing honest work for honest pay is the best way to teach multiple lessons if you give a kid a steady amount he'll only want more then will never appreciate anything
