I've been a tech for 15 years, and I've worked lots of places. Salary for techs varies greatly from one area of the country to another, and one job to another. PTCB (the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) has a salary survey that is useful, and you can sort it by state:

The average tech makes $13 per hour, and the max tends to be in the upper teens. So, average is less than 30k per year. Hospital techs get paid a little more, and they tend to average in the low 30ks per year.
