Maybe some progressive metal stuff. Dream Theater? "Metropolis"? They got keyboards, some pretty intense drumming, vocal work, and electric guitar work (have one guitarist do rhythm work and one do lead work). The bass work is pretty excellent as well. And their songs are brilliant. Only problem would be that they are very talented.

If you're looking to turn some bucks in addition to self expression, then ask yourself, "Who has the money to hire us consistantly?" OLD people, and yeah I'm 50, so learn some Beatles/Stones standards like 'Shes a Woman' 'Get Back' and 'Honkey Tonk Woman' 'Miss You'. Also, and cringe if you may, but the biggest type of music to fill a dance floor is disco, i.e. 'You Dropped a Bomb on Me' or 'Stayin' Alive'. Both these lists are endless. Good luck.

I'd say do your own music, dont try to be anyone else, play your music, yeah it's cool to have influences but dont try to be like them, find your sound, write what you know, play what you feel and have fun remember it's all of you not just one person's band trust me I've been there and it's broken up alot of my bands and killed the chemistry, get along and respect each other and be open to ideas, best advice I can give,go rip it up

Hard Rock Hallelujah by Lordi

Since I'm a Bass player, I've got the Bass notes for that song if you need 'em. Let me know.

Some of us would say it's not a band without a bass guitarist.

You should all plug in and just jam. Come up with your own material. Someone can come up with a riff and build upon that. Jamming with a band can be very productive plus you can find your own sound instead of copying someone else's style.

original songs - do your own thing, not someone elses

if you are going do other people songs:
songs by my favorite musical artist Taylor Hicks,
CCR songs, 50's rock - Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, etc

still i think yall should write and perform your own songs and music.
