Now this is seriously sad but I had my own families of pipe-cleaner people! It started when I was very little ... my grandfather made me two with pipe-cleaners and a pencil to make the head, and I carried it on to an art form! They were everywhere, in my bed, at school, in my satchel, in the bathroom [they had to be replaced a lot because they got rusty], in my pockets ......... psychologically I think they managed to satisfy a need for normality and love within a family unit - something that I lacked as a child.

Dirt. Water. Sticks. Bugs ~ and I played with them, I didn't squish them. *hehe* The praying mantis fascinated me. What an intelligent and attentive creature sho nuff. Anything outdoors or indoors that required creativity and thought. Manufactured 'toys' never held my attention long. Ooh. Ooh. Just remembered something really fun. I used to turn my bike upside down, load the fender with rocks, spin the wheel hard and watch the rocks shoot out like pop corn. Yep. Yep. Fun.

I used to love french skipping. The only thing was that no one used to like being the 'ends' so, as we played in the street, we had the elastic round a tree on one side of the road and the lamp post on the other end. God help the motorcyclist who came down our road when we got to 'necksies'.
