People are far too critical about films. Back up a few paces and look at some of the amazing things that have been produced. Most people are so busy going to the latest film that they never stop to appreciate what they've seen and likely won't till a few years down the road, when they'll say again, "Are movies becoming sucky? Remember when they made great movies in (whatever years)?"
People see a movie once and forget it by a week later instead of thinking about what they've seen, mainly because they've rushed out to see a handful of other movies that they quickly forget. That's not what movies are about. They're not a container that you empty and throw in the trash.

WOW! That was a lot of typing, but I wanted to prove my point. Every year has ups and downs and lots of in betweens. I think there are some remarkable films on that list that might become favorites in the future, perhaps even several classics eventually. So, what was that about not seeing a good movie for a long time?

Generally speaking, I think I agree with you. But there are exceptions. The secret is staying away from the popular films and finding an Indie place or renting on DVD. Besides, the movies are getting to expensive anyway. It's hardly worth going unless the movie is going to be awesome.

They just don't make movies the way that they used to. Now they just "update" (rip-off) something that someone else has done. don't get me wrong, some remakes are good, but some should be left alone. Every once in a while I stumble upon a good original, but most of the time they are independent or foreign. Which means that they aren't shown locally, so I have to wait for them to be released on DVD.

Because times change. I am sure there are older people who wonder what happened to those wonderful Doris Day romantic comedies. Most movie-goers are not easily impressed and are young. They like special effects. And that's who movie makers cater too. I've only seen maybe 4 or 5 in the last year I really liked - "The Holiday" "Little Children" "1408" "Disturbia." I like romance/drama/comedy/thrillers. I thought myself a bit old in my middle age to like "Disturbia" but thought it funny and well-acted.

this is a century of remakes..nothing against it but sometimes creativity is at risk.when you remake a movie they tend to compare it to the original.most of the time the original is still the best,so a waste of time.europeans are more original. some of the american movies were based on a european story.like the lake house.

Yea, lately all movies are adapted from books or remakes of asian movies. I like some of them, but sometimes I want to see a more original movie.

The deffinately don't make movies the way they used to...whenever i'm watching movies lately i get caught up in how they make them..and how much money they spend making them and..it's pretty rediculous...The usually seem very unrealistic...and just dumb....
