Emptiness is part of the ego, that part of all of us that eliminates fear of oneself ultimately, provided those feelings are understood and not left alone, emptiness is something meant to weaken the ego, and when feeling emptiness, you garner strength, emptiness holds everything in a dimension that opens doors and widens the possibilities; emptiness is healthy, emptiness is tears, and emptiness is good every now and then.

We fear empiness because we're not meant to be empty, we're meant to have a purpose. Eternety has been implanted in us, and this makes us feel empty when we realise how small we are. The only thing that can fill this emptiness is God. We're only empty inside anyway because he isn't in us. We need him. Finally, in emptiness there is fear, because nothing can ever be fully empty.

Fear is the emotional reaction to move away from things that inflict damage to the self.
Life is the mechanism of self preservation.
Emptiness is the lack of fear because it is the lack of self.
Therefore the life's basic principal of self preservation reacts to emptiness with fear.

We fear emptiness because our preconception of emptiness is that it is something undesirable, much like our preconception of other undesirable events in life, such as death or a traffic accident. Thus, what we fear is our own preconcived notion of emptiness, not emptiness itself.
Eventhough in emptiness there is no fear, there is loneliness and sorrow. Many of us fear loneliness and sorrow much more than we fear emptiness.
Edit-----------
C.C.G: Isn't that called "loneliness".
There is also spiritual emptiness which is similar to the idea of feeling lonely. When someone is spiritually empty, he/she lones for other ppl to make her "imcomplete" soul "complete", to help he/she fill up the empty inner world, so to speak.

When you're empty inside, you have no emotions nd definetly no fear.
Sometimes it's good to be empty, that way people won't try to bring up fear in you.

Fear is born from separation. When we are not connected to others, we then feel empty, and lifeless. But, in meditation, we empty ourselves, we do it intentionally, this makes a big difference, and we know how to appreciate this time.

We are attached to all of the "noise" we run through our minds every second of the day. What we have come to believe (whether we know it or not) is that "emptiness" or the lack of directed thought is frightening.

Emptiness is interesting and quiet. Kind of solemn and I don't like it, I shed tears quietly. I don't think I am afraid, when I have these feelings, its just painful in a sense, like nobody cares and nobody is there.

Because in emptiness, there is only oneself, and the prospect of unrelieved and honest self-appraisal may be just cause for fear in some.
