I mean, Duuuuuuuude, the doll could talk, curtsey, and was the kind that could even say "How do yo do?" So, what was wrong with it and why was it on the Island of Misfit Toys?

Duuuuuuuude, like, I know why Charlie in the Box was there, and the swimming owl, and the gnarly cowboy who rode an ostrich, but why was the doll there? So, what was wrong with the doll, Duuuuuuuude?

Duuuuuuuude, I also need to know: what was wrong with the scooter for Jimmy, Duuuuuuuude?

According to Rankin & Bass, made the TV special, the unnamed doll has no visible problems like the others but they said they really didn't know why she was there.
They said many years later that she was there because she was able to talk on her own without pulling a string or pushing a button. That's why in the song she sings "even a doll that says how do you do".
That's what the guys made her say so I guess that's the official answer. Or so the book about them says.
The scooter for Jimmy is only mentioned in the song and nowhere else so I guess the world may never know that one.

Misfit Doll (voiced by Corinne Conley) is an unnamed, but seemingly normal girl rag doll. Her presence on the island is never explained. Though one accepted reason is that the problem is somewhat psychological. Another possibility, as the doll mentions in her song "Even a doll that says 'how do you do'", this could mean that the doll is a misfit because she can actually talk without pushing buttons or pulling a string, and probably had vocal cords and everything.
