Why do businesses have websites if they aren't selling anything?

What are some good reasons to have a website for your business?

So service customers can find their phone number. We have a shipyard and only repair ships we don't sell anything or do anything with boats. Once in a while we get an email from the address on the website from a ship owner but we just give polite answers to boat owners looking for service and delete spam.
We don't need thousands of hits or thousands of customers but the few customers we have are highly valued.

Every business provides a value to some customer.
It need not be a product.

as such, the internet has wide-spread penetration in masses. It is a good medium wherein a firm can elaborate on its services/products/values offered.

another reason for firm to have website is for:
1. Investor relations.
2. Employee information distribution.
