Website is one effective way of doing your business today. It does the following:
>showcases and advertises products and services
>educates readers/ customers thru useful informations
>relays updates and information to the people
>provides venue for trade and online business
>opens doors for competition and trade of ideas

The most common overall reason is to share information. Of course the reason for sharing information varies from ego boosting, putting on a good image, trying to sell product, trying to put across philosophy, trying to directly make money from ads.
