Do you think society should be based on this system, as opposed to an economic system that disvalues the idea of equality like we have presently? Do you think if everyone was given the same essential resources, rather than others getting more than their fair share would allow society to work much better?

No because where I work they sure don't do equal amounts of work.

No here is why, if I know I will be given the same type of house, car, the same amount of food, the same paycheck as a doctor, dentist, vet, a lawyer, an engineer, no matter what then where is my motivation to do anything besides sweep a floor, or work fast food. Why bother going to school and reading countless books on anatomy, law, or learning calculus if it is not going to give me a better life than someone who does not want to do put in that kind of effort and time. Basically in a society like the one your propsing there is nothing to inspire people to strive to be their best.

No. It's been tried before and it doesn't work well. That's why the Soviet citizens had to wait in line for hours to get a loaf of bread and why they had little choice about which equally bad products to buy. In the US, unions have tried to create a situation where people aren't paid based on the value they deliver but rather based on seniority. It has resulted in mediocrity. There's no reward for people to put in extra effort because they are just going to be paid the same as everyone else anyway.

The "equality" idea (communism, socialism) is great idea in theory... the thing is humanity is too greedy and power hungry to allow something like that to actually work... and those systems have very little tolerance for corruption... the reason Capitalism works so well is that it isn't heavily effected by corruption... it actually sometimes helps drive it.

If everyone makes the same amount of money no matter what, why bother putting in any effort at work? Once everyone realizes this, no one is producing any goods or services.

There is no utopia, except in fairy tails. Who would pay all these people their equal wage? Where would the money come from? Are you starting to see the problem now?

Well, I am what you call a socialist liberal democrat and I don't think so...

You have to value some work more than others... or who would do the gross stuff???

But I don't think we should allow the rich to get exponentially richer at the expense of everyone else...

I think we can strike a balance between capitalism and socialism that pleases more people...
Right now, we are waaay to capitalist.

People like Paris Hilton get to do whatever the frick they want while really good, hard-working people are actually STARVING.... that's not gonna work for much longer...

Getting better pay and a better job is what gives people the incentive to work harder.

No it's not a good idea. But right now we have several crises going on, so talking about changing systems now is wasting time.
