Two holes were drilled for an alarm system that we took out, and they're about the size of half dollars. The other hole is about the size of a light switch plate. How do I fix them easily?

While you have received some excellent answers ,and most are correct, this is by far the easiest way to fix the holes you have in you wall. I can't remember who the manufacturers are,but that doesn't matter,as they are still carried in most of the Hardware Stores. They are squares of various sizes,(and a variety pack also) of drywall, that have an extremely strong adhesive tape on each side. You just cut the hole in the wall ,the size of the square (use a drywall saw, about $4.99, or even a single hacksaw blade 18T $1.99) Then pull the backing from the tape, and put into place. When done, the repair piece is flush against the wall. You just use some Spackle,to go over the tape, Prime, then paint. All done! Now, just to let you know, you must prime before you paint,if you don't the Spackle will show through every time. Byee (I don't know any store that sells small pcs. of drywall, you have to buy the whole sheet)

Here is a good video clip of how to patch the one about the size of the light switch plate - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zop6ND1h4o&NR=1

You can also get a "patch kit" from most hardware and building supply stores, which will include some tape, mud, and patch material. There will be instructions on the box.

If the walls are textured... you will want to remove the texture far enough back to be able to work on the patch. Then match the texture (how would depend on what type). After that has dried, prime it, and paint it. (If you paint without priming, the patch will dry to a different color than the rest of the wall, even tho you are using the same paint)

This is more time consuming than anything else... not difficult to do.

Have Fun :)

The smaller holes you can fill with Fixall. The larger one takes a little more.
Cut a piece of cardboard that you can fit through the hole and then turn so it won't come back through.
Put a thin piece of wire through center and pull cardboard up tight against back of hole and fill in with Fixall. After it dries carefully push wire into wall.
Paint.

Repaint after it dries.

if you measure the circumference of the holes and with a hole saw drill out pieces of drywall or plywood that will fit tight in those holes you can push them in the holes and then simply mud over them. If they dont fit tight, you can slide a small piece of plywoodinto the hole and screw into it on either side of the hole then screw your plugs into those. Put a piece of drywall tape over the holes and feather your mud about 6 to 8 inches over the holes

Get some spackle from the store (it's cheap) and a putty knife. It may take a couple of coats, but you should be able to repair it well enough.

I would try to explain, but you won't able to understand what I'm talking about.....very easy though...and you feel a little handy afterwards.....

My only advise is to try youtube.com.....and Please use a roller when painting again....don't use a brush to paint...
