I have a clothing dilemma. My competition civics team needs to dress professional, but we cannot agree on the color coordination. One choice is a DEEP RED dress shirt, but we can't find a tie to match. Another choice is to go with two different dress shirt colors, the boys will wear pale blue, and the girls deep red. My concern is that the two colors will clash horribly. Any suggestions? We just need to look like mini politicians.

When dealing with dark colors that aren't black, it's best to go with a tie that's a lighter shade. With a dark red dress shirt, I normally wear a lighter colored tie like pink, salmon, or a lighter/brighter red. The idea is to not have your tie blend in with the shirt. If it does, then there's really no point in wearing a tie.
I know a lot of people don't like wearing black, but that's probably one of the easiest colors to match a tie with because it's so bold and almost all of the colors stand out so easily. If you guys decide on red, you can stick a red tie on a black shirt, and it looks great. If you guys decide to go blue, you can stick a blue tie on a black shirt, and it looks just as great. You can do the same with green, gold, yellow, orange, purple, etc.
My main advice is to NOT go with two different colors. It's tacky and doesn't really build that whole "team" mentality. Everyone should wear the same color combination.

It sounds a little off, but if you like the colors I'm sure you can make it work. Maybe add a neutral color to the mix like black for instance.. Or maybe do a very deep purple in the flowers and a deeper red. In my mind I'm imagining you're talking almost royal purple and a bright red. I think if you go with deeper colors it will really look fantastic. Congratulations on your wedding. When is the date?

well if the guys are wearing pale blue shirts then they should also wear a pinkish tie, and know they won't look gay just cos it's pink, alot of guys actually wear pink ties and do they look hot or what?.. ok then they girls who are wearing deep red shirts should defintely wear black, black ties!!!

You will look like comedians! Even hey will dress better. Just wear blue dress shirts, navy ties with grey stripes. Easy, proffesional, sophisticated.
