Is there anything that I should be strictly worried about?

Only 8 months.

Is he intact? if so you wil get a lot of scare mongering about his foreskin. Don't listen to it. Also, don't let anyone retract him, as that can allow more bacteria into the meatus.

Insist that they treat him as they would treat a girl (who get many more UTIs all their lives)

A urinary tract infection in young males can be an indicator of an anomaly in the kidneys, ureters, bladder or urethra. Concerns include:
1) was the specimen properly obtained? A suprapubic aspiration - a needle inserted through the lower abdomen into the bladder is the gold standard. A catheterized specimen is next. A bagged specimen, pasting a plastic collection bag around the penis, is likely to be contaminated.
2) subsequent evaluation. I think most pediatricians would want to get a DMSA scan or a nuclear cystogram, perhaps with a renal ultrasound. But first the infection would be treated with antibiotics.
