I gained 38 1/2 pounds with my pregnancy, and by my six week check-up I had lost 32 pounds. I wasn't exercising or anything, I owe it all to breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not only the best thing for your baby, it's awesome for Mom too! Breastfeeding daily is the equivalent of running a mile every day, you burn the same amount of calories. So I lost the weight fast, but I didn't regain my old shape. THAT is taking some time!

I have had 3 children and each one varied. I did learn that it is more important that you just eat healthy and concentrate on enjoying your new arrival.
Natural metabolism and age factor a great deal in this. During the first few months after you have a baby, it is natural for your metabolism to be slower and you are expected to retain weight. Eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of rest when possible is what you need most. You will also be so busy with daily chores in the beginning that your body will lose some weight without any effort.
In my early twenties, I had returned to my pre- pregnancy weight by eight months for my two oldest. In my thirties, it took longer (12 months) and I retained an extra ten pounds. (I also gained more during this pregnancy).
Just remember that it took nine months to create your child and you should at least allow yourself the same amount of time to bounce back.
Walking really is a wonderful way to get back in shape sooner. Certain foods also help burn bad calories: Papayas, grapefruit, lemonade, etc. I would check with your doctor as he or she may have wonderful advice that will be more in tuned to your individual needs.

Most people go over the recommended 25 pounds for weight gain- it looks like you will be under that. Breastfeed and eat healthy after you give birth & you'll be back to pre-pregnancy weight in no time :) Remember, this is about you and the baby being healthy, and nothing else.

As long as it takes. I think its really dependant on soooo many factors. Considering: How much did you gain? What is your schedule like with the new baby? are you working? etc?
I would say it can easily take someone 3 years to do it healthy, if they gained like 40-50 pounds. You know if you gained like 10 pounds only, it might not take long at all.

Depends on how much you have to lose, but 10 pounds the first month, and about 8 each month after is health and normal
