Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3; which one should I play first?

i know that MGS3 is the first in the series's chronology but i've heard people say that MGS3 has references to MGS2 during the gameplay..

You should buy Metal Gear Solid 2 first and then buy Metal Gear Solid 3. In Metal Gear Solid 2, you will get a good feel for the game and the controls and then you can use those skills in Metal Gear Solid 3.

Metal Gear Solid 2 isn't really that hard to beat(depending on the difficulty), but Metal Gear Solid 3 is a little bit more challenging and takes more thinking and skill to beat the game.

Most people will tell you that Metal Gear Solid 3 is a more fun game, and I have to agree that it is more fun to play because it takes place outdoors and you have to survive in the jungle/forests by hunting for your own food and more.

Even though Metal Gear Solid 3 took place before Metal Gear Solid 2 in the storyline, you should play the 2nd game first for sure.

Chances are if you play MGS3 first you'll be a little disappointed when you get to MGS2. Snaker Eater is just better in so many ways. It'll feel like a step backwards, and that's not the experience you want.

You want to play Sons of Liberty first, and be completely thrown back by how awesome it is. Then move on to Snake Eater and marvel at how much better it is than it's predecessor.

You'll notice the improvements compared to Sons of Liberty and it will be a good thing.

i start with mgs2 to get the plot of mgs 1 then mgs 1 to understaand 2 then 3 to clear(?) things up but id get 2 as 3 is tricky to get round as thers no radar on 3 and 2 has a great plot and brillient wepons

thats right u should play 2 first then 3 or even better play 1 then 2 then 3 that way ull understand the whole story . its a great game and it has a great story so u should do it properly

Actually MGS is more of a prequel of the entire series... play the third one, then the first one if you haven't (just for fun) and then the second one (though the second one isn't that great, unless you find a version where you get to play as snake through the entire game...)

hmm in my opinion 3 was the superior game so I would do that one after 2 becaues 2 happens to be kinda boring and all in an urban setting (boring!) 3 is just flat out way more fun

If your a hardcore fan... I suggest playing the games in "timeline" order, not chronological. MGS3 MPO MPW MG MG2:SS MGS MGS2 MGS4
