I was a Brownie Scout, and now I am a Cub Scout mom. My son is a Bear Scout, and I would not camp with him again if he refused to help set up the tent. My biggest problem is probably the popcorn sales, though. It's such a rip off. Girl Scout cookies sell themselves, but my kid is supposed to set a goal for himself and attempt to meet it by tricking grown ups into paying twenty to fifty dollars for a tin of popcorn...when everyone knows that Wal Mart is going to have a pyramid of variety popcorn tins for $4.99 set up by the front door within the month. Other than the popcorn sales, it's all right. We have fun camping, but he does have to help set up the tent and carry the stuff.

I was a boy scout, made Life Scout with 20 merit badges. Went to the 1953 Boy Scout Jamboree in Irvine, Ca. I lived in New Hampshire so had a great train trip in the old fashioned pullman cars. Camping in Ca was okay with me but the camping trips in New Hampshire really sucked. We slept on the ground and nights are always cool, sometimes cold in NH even in the summer. I agree that there is a ganging up and lack of mutual effort.
It was, all in all not really my style. I still go camping now, set up a tent but sleep in my van on a matress with regular pillows. Also I am in Arizona now and nights are much warmer.

I was a brownie & girlscout in grade school, but after that it was pretty much frowned upon at my school. Only the nerds were in it still. None of my friends & I stuck it out.
I met a guy a few years ago who was still a scout of some sort & he's in his late 20's though.

I was in Girl Scouts until 5th grade. After that I just thought it was lame and wanted to do different things like cheerleading and softball.

I belonged to a Brownie troop, but when it was time for me to 'fly up' to Girl Scouts, the troop leader had quit, so that was the end of that song.
