Being Pro-choice is your choice for abortion and birth control then if you are Pro-Life then tell me how you can take things to stop from getting pregnant?

I'm surprised at how many people don't realize that the pill works two ways. 1) it stops a women from ovulating, but 2)it causes the uterine lining to be unfriendly to a fertilized egg, thus causing early abortion - much like the morning after pill.

If the pill simply kept a women from ovulating (without fail), then *I* wouldn't be able to consider that abortion, but taking control of their own fertility (vs letting God have the control).

I guess for most Pro-Life simply means not killing, but you bring up an interesting point that it would be more accurate if it also meant agreeing to life whenever it is able to come to us. hmmm maybe they should have a word specifically for birth control?

This is a very interesting area. I'm not sure I understand it, but are you saying how can someone who is pro-life use birth control or try to prevent a pregnancy? How do u define the difference between pro-life and pro-choice? U are saying they should or are the same thing right? To me being pro-life is viewing life as sacred and beginning at conception, and that can be taken further to viewing the possibility of life as sacred and not doing anything to interfere with it. However this is normally done by very religious people that let GOd decide when they have kids. I'm a christian and I have looked into this, I still have't decided what to do but feel that a balance between trusting God and being realistic about how many kids one can have is the best approach. As for other ppl they can be pro-life and use birth control as long as the birth control they use doesn't kill (the pill can stop implantation) little bubs. LIfe begins at conception not before right?:)

Most birth control pills are "combination pills" containing a combination of the hormones estrogen and progesterone to prevent ovulation (the release of an egg during the monthly cycle). A woman cannot get pregnant if she doesn't ovulate because there is no egg to be fertilized. The Pill also works by thickening the mucus around the cervix, which makes it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus and reach any eggs that may have been released. The hormones in the Pill can also sometimes affect the lining of the uterus, making it difficult for an egg to attach to the wall of the uterus. Therefore it is like you never had a sperm there while an abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death......Pro-life is a term representing a variety of perspectives and activist movements in bioethics. It can be used to indicate opposition to practices such as euthanasia, human cloning, research involving human embryonic stem cells, and the death penalty, but most commonly (especially in the media and popular discourse) to abortion, and support for fetal rights. The term describes the political and ethical view which maintains that fetuses and embryos are human beings, and therefore have a right to life. Pro-life individuals generally believe that human life should be valued either from fertilization or implantation until natural death. The contemporary pro-life movement is typically, but not exclusively, associated with Christian morality (especially in the United States), and has influenced certain strains of bioethical utilitarianism. From that viewpoint, any action which destroys an embryo or fetus kills a human being. Any deliberate destruction of human life is considered ethically or morally wrong.

Taking birth control is not killing the baby. It's only stopping ovulation. Many people take birth control so that they don't have to have an abortion or use abortions as a form of borth control. Pro-life means that u feel like if it's a living being it has the right to live & not be killed.

What kind of birth control are you talking about? Birth control such as a pill or depra provera shot prevent the pregnancy from ever happening. There are some types such as IUD's that can actually cause abortion. They try to prevent you from becoming pregnant in the first place but then if you do become pregnant they can later abort the baby by causing an unsafe womb for the baby. I would consider that type of birth control similiar to an abortion. I was considering using an IUD at one time I think it was called Mirena. Until I talked to my doctor and he explained that part to me. I would not choose that type. But I have used the shot and the pill and I am very against abortion.

First of all "your" should be "you're," as in "you are."

Second of all, this is a weak argument. God gives people free will. We are not His puppets. He gives you the right to reject him and live your life how you want and vice versa. Birth control does not kill a fetus, it prevents a person from becoming pregnant. Taking birth control has nothing to do with God's will or being Pro-life. Birth control is a preventative. It doesn't kill a human life, and it doesn't prevent God's will as you claim. God gives humans free will.

Birth control is preventing the pregnancy. Abortion is taking a life. I am pro-life and i was on birth control because i didn't want to get pregnant again until I'm ready.

It's completely different!!!! Birth control prevents a baby being conceived. An abortion is killing an embryo or fetus that has already been conceived. TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. Didn't think some one REALLY needed an answer on this one. Use your head.
The morning after pill is STOPPING the sperm from coming in contact with an egg. Therefore abortion!!! Once you have sex, a baby isn't conceived RIGHT THEN AND THERE. It can take days and even up to a week.

I"m pro choice, but the point you make are good ones......pro life people are typically self righteous religious freaks. Technically, you should not be having sex unless you're ready to have a baby. Actually, the Catholic church is against birth control as well as abortion. But, using birth control prevents a pregnancy thus preventing a need for a potential abortion.

It is a question I struggled w/ for awhile. There is no question birth control decreases your chances for pregnancy... however this is an answer for many people. They know they can't handle a baby now and don't want to kill it. Thus, one tries to prevent conception.

It is a hard issue but, I think God would feel better if I wanted 'till I could give my baby the best than giving my baby less than it deserves.
