tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the death of a very close friend of mine. i was wondering if anyone knows any Beatles songs that contain lyrics (even just one or two lines) that would be appropriate to quote in my away message? just a simple quote on missing a loved person, or why did you have to go away sort of thing... thanks to all who help!

You could try "Yesterday".
"Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday."
or, if you want it to be from the point of view of your lost loved one, "I'll Follow The Sun".
"One day, you'll look to see I've gone.
But tomorrow may rain, so I'll follow the sun."
or
"And now the time has come, and so my love, I must go.
And though I lose a friend, in the end, you will know, oh.
One day you'll find that I have gone
But tomorrow may rain,
so I'll follow the sun."
or "Hello, Goodbye".
"You say goodbye.
And I say hello.
Hello, hello!
I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello."
or "If I Needed Someone."
"If I needed someone to love,
you're the one that I'd be thinking of.
If I needed someone."
Just some suggestions.

"Empty Garden" is a great song. Or you could go with "The Long And Winding Road"

Not exactly a Beatles song, but "Empty Garden" by Elton John is about John Lennon.

And I've been knocking, but no one answers.
And I've been knocking, most all the day.
Oh and I've been calling ,oh hey, hey, Johnny!
Can't you come out to play,
In your empty garden?
Johnny?
Can't you come out to play, in your empty garden?

LET IT BE
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.
And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

definitely, "In My Life"
"There are places I remember but nothing compares with you .......
And the memories lose their meanings..........
.....I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more.
