I heard theres a law that says this... has it actually been put in place yet? Do they have laws like this for other groups, like blacks, hispanics.... wtf... what if your gay? How would that work...

In some states, yes. If they can prove that the reason they were not hired was because of their sexual orientation, they may sue for damages.

Why can't people figure out that the law isn't the same in every place?

The answer to your question is TOTALLY dependant on where you are. Without knowing your country, and if t's a Federal country knowing your State or Province as well, no-one can possibly know the answer. In many States / Provinces that do not ban discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation there are cities that do, so it depends where you are.

Yes, you can sue a possible employee for not hiring you because of race, being gay, age discrimination, or whatever. It's always practically impossible to prove it in court though. The employer can claim it was because of something else that the person didn't get hired.

there will e a law in whatever country you are in which says that you are not permitted to discrimate against someone based on their sexual preference, so yes you can get sued, same as if you made decision based on race black or hispanic people have rights

yes , it's called the equal opportunity act. you cant discriminate by gender,age,collar,sexual preference.
