With the Big 12 teams beating-up on each other, LSU playing in their own Conf. Championship and WVU facing Arkansas...could it be done with an OSU win over that school up north?

Urban Meyer campaigned and schmoozed his team into the BCS Championship last year and snuck-in.

What needs to unfold for a one-loss OSU team to make it this year?

It's possible.

Oregon is out

Now,
Oklahoma losing to Texas Tech right now -- they have to lose

Then - three of following four have to happen
Kansas loses to Missouri or Missouri to Kansas (either way)
Oklahoma beats Kansas/Missouri
W. Virginia loses to one of their last two opponents
LSU loses SEC

I am going to say no for many reasons. First, the SEC is sooo tough that I'm not sure even LSU can avoid a loss, especially with the championship game. Florida pushed them to the last second, and there are many other good teams there. And even if they do go through this long stretch I don't know if they can survive another game. Look at OSU last year how everyone wanted to hand them the title and they lost. Could happen again if they get there. Second, Ohio State is not going to e the Big Ten champion, they may end up begin a co-champ, but there will be two or even three teams with one loss. And they will be hurt by the lack of a championship, where they could make up a spot or two at the end (but that's another topic). But I still think they can get through riding their D. Therefore, I would have to look at Oklahoma because they have by far the easiest schedule left and OSU in the National Title game. With an OU win.

I dont think it's possible. To put OSU in the title game, West Virginia and Oregon would have to lose a game in their very easy remaining schedule. You can eliminate those teams in the Big 12 (Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas) if they all beat each other out. Then there comes the LSU problem. LSU is not gonna lose in the rest of this regular season. The only chance of a loss would be in the conference championship game where they will most likely play Georgia. The problem facing OSU is that Georgia is only 2 spots behind them in the BCS rankings. There is a high possibility that a two loss Georgia team that beats number 1 LSU in the conference championship game goes ahead of OSU in the BCS rankings. That would probably push a one loss team like Kansas into the championship against either Oregon or West Virginia. While there is still a slight possibility of Ohio State making the national championship, it would require a ridiculous amount of luck.

Yes.
Ohio State can and WILL make the BCS Title Game. And here is why.
1. LSU- They are an SEC team. The SEC is known for their speed. We saw this with the Kentucky game, LSU can be outplayed, however, I do not see them losing a regular season game, They will lose in the SEC Championship Game.
2. Oregon- As we see right now, Arizona is currently blowing out Oregon on ESPN. With Dennis Dixon hurt, The Ducks have little offense. They rely on their running back. And there is no way he is going to make up this deficite. Oregon falls tonight.
3. Kansas- As a Big 12 team, The Jayhawks have other contenders. The Sooners (#4) and the Tigers (#5) are also in the race for the title game.
HERE IS HOW THE BIG 12 WILL FINISH
-Kansas beats Mizzou
-Oklahoma beats Kansas for the Big 12 Title, and the National Championship Appearance.
6. West Virginia- They will lose to either Cincy or UConn. Cincy and UConn are both good teams, and both games will be close for the Mountaineers. But I think atleast one of them will upset WV.

And for all you people that think Ohio State isn't going to beat Michigan, you are rediculous. Ohio State will limit the rush by Mike Hart, and Ohio State's defense will make up for that disgusting Illinois game. I predict a close win by the Buckeyes. 27-21.

With all of this happening, I also predict that the National Title Game will be #1 Oklahoma vs #2 Ohio State.

**#2 Teams have been horrible this season. But in the Title game, the #2 team has won the last three years.

(USC '05, Texas '06, Florida '07)

So you have to believe the Buckeyes will be ready to play.

You people are all rediculous. GO BUCKEYES!!!

WVU facing Arkansas? Sorry, no, but they finish with Cincinnati, Connecticut, and Pittsburgh.

As for Ohio State getting to the title game, forget it. The loss to Illinois, coupled with one of the weakest schedules in the FBS, means that the Buckeyes won't be able to pass the Big XII champion or a 1-loss LSU or Oregon, barring some absolutely monumental upsets that would make Appalachian State look like a 3 TD favorite when they smacked Michigan around.

Too bad guns1965 doesn't actually look at the ratings. OSU's schedule strength, according to Sagarin, is 55th in the country. Even West Virginia's is better at 50th, and Oregon (12th) and LSU (19th) have much tougher schedules, despite what he considers SEC teams falling out from beating up on each other. The strength of schedule argument is completely valid.

LSU loses SEC title game.
Kansas loses to K ST, then beats Mizzou, then beats Oklahoma in Big 12 title game
Oregon loss to Oregon St
WVa loss to UConn

If all the above happens that would put OSU back at #1 most likely if all but one happens probably at #2
None of the scenario above is beyond possibility especially this year.

TheoneB- the strength of schedule for OSU has greatly risen in last 3 weeks and will continue to rise when it plays Michigan. The LSU SOS has gone down as the SEC beats itself up while OSU's has gone up as the Big 10 beats itself up. Notice the bottom of the top 25 now is inundated with big 10 as the SEC falls out.. Both conferences have all but 1 qualified for bowls. SoS is an invalid argument against OSU

okay lets start with the florida-osu championship game last year. despite what justin says florida deserved the spot. they play a much tougher schedule than osu. oh did i mention that florida THUMPED osu in the title game??? sounds like bitter fruit if you ask me.
wvu does not play arkansas this year, where you got that information is beyond me.
but back to the question- no. osu lost to an unranked team late in the year and they will probably lose to michigan this weekend. they played a creampuff schedule this year and how they got to be number one is a joke. and yes strength of schedule does play a part in the rankings whether they say it or not. even with the stars in perfect alignment and the good lord grants them the chance to play in the title game, they will play another SEC team and get thumped again.

No,usually a team that loses on the last games of the season do not have a chance of climbing up to the top, like a team that loses on the begining of the season
