every person is different. Contractions can be tough but I think you can handle it, no i do not believe it puts more stress on the baby if it did do you think they would actually do this to a newborn there are to many factors involved, and yes the baby is getting oxygen as long as you are breathing properly sit down with your gynecologist and let him knows these fears that you have he will get them all straight for you and calm your nerves also. You are gonna be fine and so is the baby people do this all the time. and congratulations!!

Ok, I've had 4 children, 2 were natural and 2 were induced. With my first two, the labor just came naturally although painful of course. With my last two being induced, I ended up having to go with an epideral because yes, it does hurt worse and I don't care what anybody else says. I'm not trying to scare you but you need to know what is in store with this. The moment they inject the Pitosin which is the stimulant to induce, within about 5 minutes my contractions got harder and faster. It's not as bad as most may think but it is more painful than going in labor naturally. It doesn't cause any extra stress to the baby though so don't let that worry you!! Good luck with whatever you choose!

Yep it's true. I was induced and my mom warned me about how much more painful the contractions would be. But I was just stubborn and wanted that baby out of me so I went ahead with it. My contractions were HORRIBLE. I screamed at my mom, fiance, nurses, everyone. And then I had horrible back labor on top of it.
And during the contractions, there were some complications w/the baby getting enough oxygen & I had an asthma attack during it all. So after 5 hours of pushing, I had to have a c-section & it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.
But if you're leaning towards getting induced, think very long & hard about it, and if you have a high pain tolerance, cuz I certainly didnt. Good luck!!!

When your labor is induced, there is a chemical called Oxytocin or Pitocin injected into your body to speed up the process. The contractions that occur are more painful than natural contractions. Both of my labors were induced, but both babies were very healthy so I'm really not sure about it causing less oxygen to the baby.

I have been told that the contractions come on more rapidly which makes sense seeing as in natural labour they very slowly build up and the rapid contractions are about the same pain as any contractions only there is less space to recover between them. If you keep breathing and try to relax the baby should be fine, if anything starts to go wrong they can do an emergency c-section which pretty much all of my friends had to have lol. I was lucky !!

I do know that inducing a labor can make contractions be painful but as for being stressful I doubt that if you are willing to take pain meds than you'll be fine I don't think you have anything to worry about by the way congrats..

I was induced and yes the contractions are very painful, there was a point where they had to turn the drip down because I was having sever contractions every 50 sec. and I wasnt dialating. I am going to avoid getting induced for the next one. Because it ended up leading to a c-section because the baby wasnt coming out even with the help of the induction. She just wasnt ready to come out yet and it just put stress on her and myself

Yes, sometimes inducing a women can cause more painful contractions than she would have if she went natural. I don't believe that is causes less oxygen to be delivered to the baby otherwise they wouldn't induce women.

I was induced when I had my first child. It is true that the contractions are stronger and more painful. I don't think it reduces the oxygen available to the baby. That would endanger the life of the baby or cause it to be born with problems. I'm sure if that was true, they would have warned me about it.

Well I was induced with my baby, and it was my first so I had no former contractions to compare it to. But they are more painful than natural contractions because they come stronger and more frequent with each uppage of the dose. I have a high pain threshold so it didn't begin to phase me till about 7 hours in....then it got pretty intense and I got an epidural. Something I was determined not to do.
