Well, England wasn't exactly an absolutist country; rather, it was a limited monarchy. Under Charles I, the government became a constitutional monarchy. As for economics, mercantilism heavily influenced the daily trade life of English merchants.

Absolutism didn't exist in England at that time. Charles I tried to establish an Absolute Monarchy and got his head chopped off for it. And even when his son became king 15 some-odd years later (after Cromwell's death) Parliament held the sovereignty of the nation ... not the king. Absolutism, by definition, dictates that a single monarch or ruler can act in any manner suiting them with no opposition. In England, after the Glorious Revolution, absolutism was destroyed and never returned.
