Earth is not perfectly round dew to its rotation. The shape of the earth in some books is compared to a coconut, and this is called an oblate spheroid or sphere . It bulges on the equator and flattens on the poles.

Earth is elliptical. Because of the centrifugal force along equator, that acts outwards, when the earth rotates, it bulged at the equator. Distance from center of the earth at equator is 40km larger than at the poles.

Earth is neither round or elliptical. It is like Egg. It is because of earth was a hot gas many years befores derived from sun. Due to its circular motion, it is fat on equator and slim at poles.
