ARTEMIS is a Greek goddess of open places and the hunt, counterpart of the Roman Diana. One Celtic parallel is Flidais, who drove a chariot drawn by deer. According to Greek tradition, one of the places to which Artemis travelled was the Celtic province of Galatia in Asia Minor.
Artemis (also known as the goddess Diana) is often represented by the new moon and by symbols associated with her fierce and adventurous, yet distinctly feminine, nature. It is hardly surprizing that many of our ikons representing feminine strength and the passionate embrace of causes are derived from the ancient goddess symbols of Artemis.

Moon? Bow-and-arrow? Wolf? I'm not completely sure.

She was the goddess of the hunt, protector of mother and children, etc.
