I'm going to be giftwrapping for an event this weekend and I'd like to get to the point where I can have some artistic freedom to my wrapping... feel free to throw in some oragami influences though that might be a little too advanced for me. :)

The comics are a good, inexpensive gift wrap idea. Also, you can make some nice homemade gift bags by cutting pictures out of magazines and glueing them onto white lunch bags.

Since this is going to be an event where you'll be doing the wrapping, you won't have time to be too creative. I would suggest you make as many bows as you can in advance, since these take the most time. Get the largest round glue stick you can find. Wrap only the top of the boxes, such as a shirt box. This conserves paper and ribbon. Instead of putting all the bows in the center, place one to the upper left of the box. Have the ribbon s come the left side and across the top side. Place 2 ribbons from corner across the top of the box about 3" apart and place the bow in the center. Place th bow in the upper left corner of the box and have several ribbons radiating downward like sun rays.Make a bow using 2 different colored ribbons and tie the box with the 2 different ribbons. If you wrap several gifts ( for the same person ) wrap each box individually and stack them together pyramid fashion and tie them up as one large gift. Make sure any ribbon ends that will show on the top of the box ( such as the ones radiating from the bow ) have a fishtail end cut on them. Hope some of these ideas help. I have many ideas for wrappings but most are too time consuming to do at this kind of event.
